Gameloft Connect Terminated

It's two days before the end of the year, and for the users of Gameloft's Connect service, it's two days before the service goes down forever.

What started as a direct B2C channel like iTunes, seems to have failed for the French developer and publisher of mobile games as Gameloft sent out a mailing to their consumers that the service will go offline at the end of 2007.

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you that the Gameloft Connect application is about to be closed.

If you have any free tokens in your Gameloft Connect Account, please use them before the 31st of December 2007. We would have all our new games on the website www.Gameloft.com and we hope to see you very soon on our new website.

Thank you for using Gameloft Connect

Best regards.
Gameloft Connect Team

Brazil 3G auction

Brazil has finished its 3G auction with no big changes in the landscape—all the licenses were won by the big three telcos in Brazil (Vivo Participacoes, TIM Participacoes and Claro) reports Cellular News. There was a significant premium above the expected price paid for the licenses, ranging from 34 percent to 274 percent above the market price. Regulator Anatel has raised the forecast revenues from 4 billion reals to 6 billion reals (US$3.3 billion).

'Shut up Chavez' ringtone sells half a million

About half a million Spaniads have downloaded a ringtone of King Juan Carlos telling Hugo Chavez to shut up.

The tone features the phrase "Por que no te callas?" or "Why don't you shut up?", which was what the king said to Venezuelan President Chavaz during a summit in Chile last month.

Newspaper El Pais says the ringtone is thought to have generated around $2.2 million. T-shirts and mugs featuring the words are also selling well.

The spat last week began when Chavez repeatedly called former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar a "fascist."
